Hey there!My name is Adeyemi "Yemi" Ogunkanmi, known online by the alias Shirokishi! I'm a Nigerian-American composer, producer, and audio engineer specializing in work for animation and games.As a child, I always loved to listen to music that I enjoyed on repeat and learn how to play the melodies on piano, sparking the flame that was my passion for music. From there, I joined every scholastic music ensemble that I possibly could, collecting numerous accolades for my proficiency.Over time, as I watched more animated shows and films and played more games, that performance passion grew into a love for the magic of the audio soundscape: music composition and audio design. I not only wanted to feel that passion within myself, but share it with others through my own work. I've worked on numerous short animated films, including Charmaine Ang's Fishbowl (2022), McKenzie Bugg's Director's Cut (2021), Tyler Washington's Combust (2020), Elizabeth Saylor's Exes In Crime (2020), and many others. I also currently work with multiple indie animation studios on numerous projects, such as Tlacuache Studios, Boldbird Studios, and Aftershock Animations.My music background stems mainly from jazz and electronic music, creating a unique harmonic and timbral soundscape to take every project that I work on to the next level.I'm currently attending the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a BM in Music for New Media. In my spare time, I'm playing trombone and keys as well as arranging for my ska band Lime Shades. I also dabble in visual art, cooking, and languages!
